Leave a gift in your Will

By including a gift to Youth Opportunities in your Will (also known as a bequest), you can make a significant and positive impact on the lives of young Australians experiencing disadvantage, now and in the future. Your legacy will not only help the young people we support in our programs, but it also filters out to their peers, school, workplaces, families and our whole community. We understand that you will provide for your loved ones first and are grateful for any support you are able to provide.

By supporting Youth Opportunities, you create a legacy that you can be proud of.

Leaving a gift in your Will truly is one of the most meaningful and long–lasting ways you can help us continue to support young people facing disadvantage and adversity, a gift that will make a real difference and be honoured by us.

Your decision does not affect your lifestyle today.

Making a decision to include a gift to Youth Opportunities in your Will enables you to make a gift that you might not be able to afford today, but would if you could in the future. And you can discuss with us how you would like your gift to be used, so you can fully appreciate its impact.

Leaving a gift in your Will is easy.

It doesn’t take long to make a difference – a simple Will can take as little as one hour to prepare.

Types of bequests

Residuary gift – After you have provided for your friends and family in your Will, you may consider giving a percentage, or all of the remainder of your estate to Youth Opportunities.  This type of bequest won’t lose value over time.

Percentage of your estate – Specify a percentage of your estate that you would like Youth Opportunities to receive – any amount, from 1% to 100%. This gift will also keep its value over time and you will be less likely to need to update your Will in the future.

Specified gift – Leave a specified amount of money, a specified item such as artwork or jewellery, property or shares.

Our suggested wording for your Will.

According to your personal situation and the intent of your gift, we have prepared the following wording for your solicitor to use to include a gift to Youth Opportunities in your Will:

“I give to Youth Opportunities Australia Ltd., ABN 84 615 401 812 free of all duties, for its general purpose (or specified purpose), the sum of $ . . . . . . . . . . . (or portion of or residue of estate or description of property or item) and I declare that the receipt of the treasurer or other authorised officer shall be sufficient discharge to my executor(s) who will not be bound to see the application of this gift.

How to leave a gift to Youth Opportunities in your Will

Leaving a gift in your Will depends on your personal circumstances and how you would like to give. We recommend you speak with a solicitor to either create or update your Will by adding a codicil (a short legal amendment) to ensure that your estate is distributed in the way you intended.

Significant impact created by a gift in your Will.

  • Giving young people access to our Personal Leadership training to help set a positive direction for the rest of their lives;
  • Helping them overcome financial barriers through our scholarships program;
  • Support them to sustain the positive changes they are making in their lives through our graduate engagement services; and
  • Educating their peers, teachers and families so they can be supported in their journey of change.
