Youth Opportunities appreciates the investment and generosity of our major donors whose support has helped us to create positive and lasting change for young people experiencing disadvantage and adversity.

As one of South Australia’s most trusted charities, you can be assured that your gift will be directed to the area of greatest need in creating opportunities for young people, or to an area or region that is important or of interest to you through a tailored partnership that can cover one, or multiple years.

Philanthropy has helped facilitate some of our most significant achievements at Youth Opportunities. From the development of our South East initiative, which supports multiple schools within the region, to our wonderful supporters who each year fund the development and operating costs of our organisation – a major gift brings about positive change that benefits all of us.

South East leads the way for regional impact

After receiving $100,000 from both Impact 100 and the Coopers Brewery Foundation in 2017, Youth Opportunities was able to expand in the South East. The initial investment enabled the employment of a local team, and the delivery of programs in Mount Gambier, Grant and Millicent High Schools and Allendale East Area School.

In order to support growth and sustainability in the region, a Community Development Board was established and, with their help, we have now supported over 140 students, their families and communities.

The Community Development Board is comprised of community members who volunteer their time and networks to support our fundraising and promotion in the community. They are familiar with our training, and how it can change young lives, and actively work with us to raise funds and create opportunities to improve the future of young people in the region.

In 2019, the Community Development Board helped us raise more than $112,000 from within their community, along with an incredible amount of in-kind support generated through their networks. This enabled us to provide 8 programs, access to Thrive Online, parent and teacher workshops through Project 360 and comprehensive graduate follow ups. By ensuring sustainability of our programs and services in the region, the Community Development Board is ensuring a more sustainable region with young people becoming more positive, motivated and active participants in their community.
