RJE Global take out the Lee Newton Cup at the 10th Annual Golf Day!

22 May 2017 / Supporters

Last Friday was a very special day in Youth Opportunities history; we hosted our 10th Annual Charity Golf Day. The sold out event, saw 126 of Adelaide’s business leaders and golfers ascend onto the greens of Glenelg Golf Course for a round of competitive golf, and to raise funds for Youth Opportunities. RJE Global took home the Lee Newton Cup for the first time with a score of 56.34. Glenelg Financial Services came in second place with 57.67 and Youth Opportunities Team B came in third with a total score of 58.83.

On-course our sponsors made sure our Golfers were highly entertained with Perks holding a coveted Mother’s Day Raffle and cheese and wine tasting. Phil Hoffmann Travel ran the inner circle betting hole and a business card draw that saw one lucky punter walk away with a new luggage set. NAB and Brighton Foodland was the talk of the course, hosting the Pro-Shot hole and ‘Ruggy’s World Famous Trout’ and Hamilton Holden upped the competitive stakes, with a brand new Holden up for grabs to any lucky golfer on hole 16 who hit a hole-in-one.

Following the day, our golfers and their partners and business associates joined us for dinner hosted by MC Chris Dittmar and a lively auction, run by auctioneer Phil Rogers. The day and night raised an impressive $73,000 to help empower young people across South Australia.

Our student speaker Shayla from partner school Christies Beach High shared her story on the night, highlighting why Youth Opportunities is so important to young people across South Australia.

Before Youth Opportunities, my life wasn’t going the way that I had planned. I was failing school, my friendships weren’t healthy, and my home life was very disruptive. Youth Opportunities taught me how to gain back control of my life, have a better relationship with my family and rebuild my confidence and self-worth. I now see a future for myself beyond my circumstances”.

We couldn’t run this golf day without the support of our generous sponsors and volunteers. We would like to thank Principal Sponsor – Tanti Constructions and our Wine Partner – Serafino Wines for their generous contribution. To our Gold sponsors – Eureka Hotel Group, Hamilton Holden, NAB & Phil Hoffmann Travel, our Silver sponsors – BankSA, BuildTec Group & Perks Integrated business services, and Bronze sponsors – Angelakis Brothers, Nova Entertainment, Radio Rentals, RJE Global & SRG Partners we would like to thank you for your help in making this day a huge success. We would also like to acknowledge the generosity of Coca-Cola Amatil, Coopers, Hahn Superdry/ Lion Nathan, Brighton Foodland and Vilis for their on-course food and beverage donations and to Drummond Golf Darlington and JR’s Surf & Ski Marion for their contributions to player bags on the day. A huge thank you to Holdfast Insurance Brokers who kindly organised our hole-in-one insurance.

Our committee members Joe Paparella, Eddie Bell, Pat Carpenter & Russell Gallagher; our volunteers – Lee Newton, Bob & Deb Loveday, Mike Dobson, Vicky Cammack & Tim Rugless and the amazing NAB volunteers; the day would not have been possible without you. Thank you.
