Are you a Personal Leadership Program graduate about to start tertiary studies? Youth Opportunities has partnered with The Adam Scott Foundation to either:

  • Fully fund your university degree up to the value of $75,000, or
  • Financially assist your TAFE studies!

Eligibility

To be eligible for a University Scholarship or TAFE Award, students must:

  • be a graduate of the Youth Opportunities Personal Leadership Program.
  • be undertaking their first year of study in 2022 at a South Australian-based university or Registered Training Organisation.
  • provide two referees’ reports.
  • provide evidence of financial need (scroll down for information on accepted documents).
  • be an Australian citizen (University Scholarship applicants only).

Further eligibility requirements apply. Please ensure to read the information on the first page of your application form carefully before completing your application by 17 January 2022.

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be assessed based on an application form and a personal statement of 500 words (no more than 2 typed pages) addressing the following criteria:

  • The benefit you will derive from receiving a scholarship and your career aspirations.
  • Previous personal or academic challenges you have encountered.
  • How you have worked through these challenges to be prepared to undertake university or TAFE studies.

University Scholarships

Recipients of the Adam Scott Foundation Youth Opportunities University Scholarship can choose to study any undergraduate course at any South Australian university and will receive up to $75,000 of financial support for the duration of their course. Hello, no HECS debt!

TAFE Awards

Recipients of the 2021 Adam Scott Foundation Youth Opportunities TAFE Award can choose to study any certified TAFE course at a South Australian-based Registered Training Organisation (RTO). The TAFE Awards are designed to financially assist graduates in their studies.

You can choose to either apply online using the online application form, or by downloading the relevant application form and emailing it to Youth Opportunities. Please see below for instructions for either option.

How to Apply Online

To apply online, you must first download and have two referees fill out the appropriate referee form by clicking one of the buttons below.

Once the referee forms are complete, fill out the online application form by clicking the button below. This form will prompt you to select whether you are applying for a University Scholarship or TAFE Award. Please have your referee forms and valid evidence of financial need ready, as you will need to upload this documentation to complete the application.

How to Apply via Email

To apply via email, you must download and fill in the appropriate application form by clicking one of the buttons below.

Once complete, scan and email the document, along with your valid evidence of financial need, to scholarships@youthopps.com.au. The document includes two referee pages, which must be filled out to be eligible.

Valid Proof of Financial Need

The below items are valid evidence of financial need and a copy of at least one of these options must be uploaded with your application for it to be eligible.

The below items are not valid evidence of financial need should not be uploaded with your application. Applications without valid evidence of financial need are not eligible to receive funding and will not be considered.

Application and Selection Process

1. Send Application

Either submit your application form online OR send the correct downloaded application form and required documentation to scholarships@youthopps.com.au.

2. Selection Panel

The selection panel will discuss applications, and select a shortlist of applicants who they believe would significantly benefit from the scholarship.

3. Get Shortlisted

Shortlisted applicants will be contacted by Youth Opportunities, via phone. Shortlisted University Scholarship applicants will be required to attend an interview with the selection panel. TAFE Award applicants are not required to attend an interview.

University Scholarship interviews will be undertaken in February 2022.

Additional Requirements and Ongoing Eligibility

Recipients of a University Scholarship or TAFE Award are required to adhere to several requirements to maintain funding. This is including, but not limited to, the following criteria regarding their studies and commitment to the Adam Scott Foundation and Youth Opportunities:

  • The recipient must satisfy the following assessments in their studies and commitment to The Adam Scott Foundation and Youth Opportunities;
  • Completion of a six month report outlining the educational results and benefit to their chosen career path.
  • Completion of a 12 month report outlining the educationl results and benefit to their chosen career path.
  • Achievement of a Pass Rate or GPA 4 or greater, depending on whether the recipient is at TAFE or university. If Pass Rate or GPA 4 is not achieved, tutorial support will be considered to improve. Performance below this standard will require a show cause letter, and the recipient to be placed on probation for one semester. Continual academic underperformance will lead to withdrawal of the scholarship.
  • Maintain a full-time study load, unless otherwise approved by the Adam Scott Foundation. Any leave of absence from your studies or changes to enrolment (i.e. change of course or provider) must be approved by the Adam Scott Foundation.
  • The student must at all times present themselves at a high standard, as a representative of the Adam Scott Foundation and Youth Opportunities in the community. They will undertake their studies with a high focus of attention to gain the best possible educational opportunities from the course.
  • If the student brings the Adam Scott Foundation or Youth Opportunities into disrepute, the scholarship will be immediately ceased.
