BankSA Foundation supports small, local charities helping to create a brighter future for South Australians and Territorians experiencing disadvantage. Youth Opportunities has been grateful to have been involved with BankSA Foundation for over ten years, with their grants going towards our programs and services for young South Australians.

Just recently, we were awarded one of BankSA Foundation’s 80-year Anniversary Grants of $10,000 to put towards our personal leadership programs that are improving outcomes for young people across our State. We sat down with BankSA Foundation manager, Olivia Thomas, to talk about their connection to our cause.

Why has BankSA Foundation chosen to support Youth Opportunities with their 80-year Anniversary Grant?

We are proud to continue to support Youth Opportunities and the incredible work they do to help create a brighter future for young South Australians through their proven personal leadership and wellbeing programs.

Why does BankSA value supporting local, small SA charities?

BankSA Foundation has a long and proud history of supporting local communities where we live and work. In fact, the Foundation was started by bank employees during World War 2, when staff contributed a portion of their pay to support colleagues serving in the Armed Forces. 80 years on and still driven by bank employees through regular payroll donations and the generosity of our partners and supporters, we are passionate about helping people when they need it most . We provide funding support to small organisations that often don’t receive government funding or may not be able to raise enough funds on their own to meet the demand of people needing their support.

Do you have any words of advice for the young people going through our Personal Leadership Program right now?

Be courageous and be yourself!
