Supporter Spotlight: WRP Legal & Advisory

23 October 2020 / Supporters

We would like to recognise an incredible supporter of ours, WRP Legal & Advisory, in our newsletter this term!

WRP Legal & Advisory is a boutique law firm, with a focus on commercial, property and tax law, who have provided probono services to Youth Opportunities for several years – as well as sponsoring our Golf Days.

For every client referred by Youth Opportunities, WRP Legal & Advisory have committed to supporting us with $1,000 of probono services – so if you are seeking a commercial or corporate practice lawyer, mention our name to them!

We sat down with Dimitris Parhas, Director of the firm, to talk about our valuable partnership.

How did you connect with the cause at Youth Opportunities?

We connected with Youth Opportunities through Graham Hobbs, who was Chair of Youth Opportunities board for many years. Graham was (and remains) heavily invested in Youth Opportunities, and introduced us to YO a long time ago. We have remained involved ever since.

What inspired you to come and join us as a corporate partner?

We were incredibly moved by the stories told by some of the young men and women participating in the YO program.  In particular, the adversity faced by these brave students at such a young age, and the concerted effort by YO to help them overcome these challenges left a lasting impression on us. As we are in a fortunate position to be able to provide our professional support to YO, as we knew it was required, we did not hesitate in committing to the cause.

We work with 15-year-olds to support them to be the best they can be – if you were to give advice to your 15-year-old self, what would it be?

I am a firm believer in pursuing your dreams. Therefore I would encourage my 15-year-old self to be confident, to dream big and that anything in life is achievable.

Why does WRP Legal & Advisory value supporting a SA charity?

We are a very proud South Australian firm and take great delight in supporting a wonderful South Australians charity. We consider it is culturally very important for our firm, and our people, to be associated with a charity that assists vulnerable young South Australian men and women.
